You can use response files to perform the installation and configuration process silently.
When performing a silent install, there are two phases:
- Installation: Validates input parameters and installs the core files.
- Configuration: Installs component files, runs tasks to create databases, deploy EAR files, and other configuration settings.
When the installation process completes, the suite_install.log
file moves from the \$TEMP/IBM/logs/
directory to the expeditor_install_dir/logs
directory. For a silent “custom” install, the installation phase and configuration phase must be invoked separately. When the configuration phase is running, a config.log
file in the expeditor_install_dir/logs
tracks the progress.
Response file templates are located in the root directory of the product install media. Simply edit the values in a response file template and then run the script from that directory as shown:
: ./install.sh –silent –options install.rsp
: install.bat –silent –options install.rsp
See Response file templates
for details on editing the response file. For information about options, see install.rsp options .
Response file templates for the configuration phase are located in the Expeditor/config directory. Simply edit the values in a response file template and then run the script from that directory as shown:
: ./config.sh -silent -options filename.rsp
: config.bat -silent -options filename.rsp
is the name of the response file. See Response file templates
for more information about response files; also see Adding MQ Everyplace component (add-MQe.rsp)
, Adding DB2 Everyplace component (add-DB2e.rsp)
, and Adding Client Management component (add-ClientMgmt.rsp)
- All values MUST BE ENCLOSED in double quotes ( "" ) when entered on a command line.
- Password with special characters cannot be passed on the command line. For more information, see Supported naming conventions.
- Options specified in the response file override the options passed on the command line, so you must comment # options in the file that you want to pass on the command line.

: C:\Program Files\IBM\Lotus\Expeditor
|-W InstallType.installType="custom"||The install type to be performed. Valid options are "typical" or "custom". "typical" will install and configure all components. "custom" will not install any components. They can be added later using the configuration wizard.|
