This topic includes the installation procedures and scenarios for Lotus® Expeditor Server. Each scenario details what software must be configured and running to successfully complete the installation.
All of the procedures and scenarios assume that you have installed the necessary prerequisites and intend to complete the installation in one attempt by completing the information on each panel and continuing to the next panel. See Lotus Expeditor 6.2 Server system requirements: XPD622
and Installing prerequisite software
for more information.
If errors occur during the installation of Lotus Expeditor Server, see ../com.ibm.xpd.support.doc/ts_wed_server_intro.html in this information center. At any point during the installation, you can select Back
to return to the previous panel or select Cancel
to abort the installation.
There are four scenarios for installing Lotus Expeditor Server:
- Single system install with local database
- Custom install
- Creating a cluster
- Adding additional servers
Single system install with local database
For a single system install, select local database from the options offered during the Lotus Expeditor Server installation. As a result of this selection, all of the server components and databases are installed and configured on a single system. This scenario is intended for developer or proof-of-concept installs. If you choose this installation scenario, you cannot cluster the Lotus Expeditor Server. For instructions on installing a single system with a local database, see Installing a single server
You can choose to deploy only the components you need using the custom install path. You can add or remove components without having to re-install the whole server. This path allows you to configure components directly into a WebSphere® Managed environment, which is required if you want to scale the system to other servers. In addition, the custom install option allows more database server choices than the typical install path. For instructions on the custom install option, see Performing a custom install
Creating a cluster
You can configure Lotus Expeditor Server to allow it to be scaled across multiple server systems. This requires WebSphere Application Server Network Deployment Edition. The initial Lotus Expeditor Server must be configured into a managed WebSphere environment. Individually, you can then create an initial cluster from one or more Lotus Expeditor Server services. Using the custom installation path, you can then install additional Expeditor Server services on other systems to expand the cluster across multiple servers. WebSphere MQ Everyplace® is not clustered because it is not an application server. To share MQe queues among multiple servers, you need to create the queues on media that is accessible from all systems (for example, shared DASD). For instructions on setting up an initial cluster, see Creating a cluster
Adding additional servers
In a high volume production environment, you might find it necessary to add additional Lotus Expeditor Servers to increase capacity or provide high availability for Lotus Expeditor Server services. After you have created the cluster from an initial installation, you can add additional Lotus Expeditor Server systems to the cluster. For instructions on how to add servers to your scaled environment, see Adding an additional server
