In addition to specifying a landmark in the application configuration extension, you can also contribute new landmark definitions with the landmark configuration extension point.
This approach allows others to contribute or extend an application without working with the original configuration. In some cases, because it uses Eclipse extension points, you can contribute this application dynamically, for instance, while only on a specific page. The definition is like the above configuration, except that the landmark identifier and target builder elements are primary missing elements. This fact means that the new extension must identify landmark expressions that are compatible with the original landmark identifier defined in the base configuration.
