The framework uses a scheduled background job to call each provider and tell it to retrieve updated settings from its associated back-end systems and then pass them to the framework to update the values stored on the client.
The provider mechanism also includes a mechanism for a provider to inform the framework when it has new updates, instead of waiting for the poll interval to elapse. If the provider you are using has this capability, you do not need to be concerned about this setting. Neither of the providers shipped with Lotus
® Expeditor have this capability, but other providers could.
By default, the scheduled update job runs every 720 minutes (12 hours). To change this value, do one of the following:
Parent topic: Configuring managed settings
- If your settings are being populated by the Portal Policy Manager, use the administrative console to edit the value of the com.ibm.rcp.managedsettings/UpdateIntervalInMinutes setting.
- If your settings are being populated by the file provider, create a setting group called com.ibm.rcp.managedsettings and a setting of UpdateIntervalInMinutes.
- If your settings are being populated by a different back-end system, create a name-value pair to set the update interval. Use a qualifier of com.ibm.rcp.managedsettings and a setting of UpdateIntervalInMinutes.
