Lotus Foundations 1.2 Ordering/Support Frequently Asked Questions

expanded Abstract
collapsed Abstract
No abstract provided.

Q1) How do customers purchase a Lotus Foundations 1.2 solution?
A1) Customers purchase Lotus Foundations 1.2 (core software stack) through their local IBM Software Reseller. In addition, customers need to purchase the IBM Lotus Foundations Server (IBM 9234-CNx or 9234-DNx) through their local IBM System x reseller. In some countries, one IBM Reseller will be able to provide both.

Q2) What are the officially supported platforms for Lotus Foundations 1.2?
A2) The IBM 9234-CNx and 9234-DNx are the officially certified hardware platforms for new purchases of Lotus Foundations solutions. Additional certified and supported hardware platforms that have been tested by IBM or withdrawn from marketing and are no longer available for ordering are provided in IBM Technote 1306185 below:
http://www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=3498&uid=swg21306185

If a customer separately purchases one of the certified or supported hardware platforms listed at the URL above through an IBM System x reseller OR if they have a certified or supported platform that has been previously purchased or obtained, they may purchase the Lotus Foundations 1.2 core software stack through their IBM Software Reseller. It can then be installed on the certified or supported platform by their IBM Reseller. Only platforms listed in IBM Technote 1306185 will be entitled to Lotus Foundations support.

Q3) I'm interested in running Lotus Foundations 1.2 on a platform that is not included on the list of certified and supported platforms at the URL above. Will my IBM Reseller provide service and support to me if I do ?
A3) No. Only the officially certified and supported platforms at the URL above have been integrated and tested with the Lotus Foundations core software. Your IBM Reseller will not be able to open problems or receive support to fix issues that may occur from running Lotus Foundations 1.2 on a platform that has not been certified.

Q4) Why does IBM not support other hardware platforms?
A4) A key advantage of Lotus Foundations based solutions for customers is the tight integration of the software stack and the supporting hardware platform. Your trusted IBM Reseller backed by IBM are only able to insure that the certified and supported platforms for Lotus Foundations 1.2 listed at the URL above will be up and running quickly and provide a very stable, easy to use platform that is worry free for customers.

Q5) Who can I contact at IBM if I have additional questions about ordering and support for Lotus Foundations 1.2?
A5) You can reach the worldwide Lotus Foundations support team by sending an email to lf-support@ca.ibm.com.
