USB bootable memory stick for booting / primary load of Lotus Foundations

A partner asked on LinkedIn Foundations group: I would like to boot LFS via USB. Has anybody had a similar experience? Has anybody got expertise in this are?
From Sam McHan:

You need:
- syslinux 3.84 for Windows
- Lotus Foundations core 1.1 (can download a trial of this from ibm.com)

Instructions:
1) In Windows, format a USB thumb drive (E:, in this instance) using the FAT file system
- C:\>format /FS:FAT /Q E:

2) Copy the entire contents of the Lotus Foundations core CD (D:) to the USB thumb drive (E:)
- C:\>xcopy /e d:\*.* e:\

3) C:\>rename E:\ISOLINUX.CFG SYSLINUX.CFG

4) Use syslinux.exe to apply a boot record to the thumb drive
- C:\syslinux\win32>syslinux.exe -f e:

5) Plug the USB thumb drive into your server and boot.
- You may need to enable USB device booting in the server's BIOS
- If you're using an IBM Lotus Foundations Server, you must use a USB port on the back. If I recall correctly, the server will not boot off the front ports.

7) Use the Lotus Foundations console to format the system drive on the server, shutdown the server, remove the USB thumb drive and power on again. At this point, you should be booting from the system disk.
- Might need to reconfigure the BIOS to boot off the system drive. It depends on the specific hardware you're using.
