To use the Java™ API, follow these steps to configure your system.

To configure your computer to run applications that use the API:

  1. Note: You cannot add both Classic and Streaming Java API files to your classpath. If you do, you will receive errors and your application will not work.
  2. From the Start menu, select Settings -> Control Panel -> System.
  3. On the System Properties sheet, click the Advanced tab.
  4. Click Environment Variables.
  5. Under System Variables, select the CLASSPATH variable and click Edit.
    • If the CLASSPATH variable does not exist in your list of environment settings, you must create it: click New and type CLASSPATH in the Variable Name field.
  6. In the Variable Value field, enter the location of the following components:
  7. A typical location for the files is C:\Program Files\IBM\Forms Server\8.0\API\lib\java
    • pe_api.jar
    • pe_api_native.jar
    • uwi_api.jar
    • uwi_api_native.jar
    • commons-codec.jar
    • xmlsec-1.4.1.jar
    • current directory (represented by a period)
  8. Click OK.
  9. Click OK.
