Note: Datatype is mandatory and must appear first; the other settings are optional.

You can only declare one data type for each item. If you do not set the data type, XFDL will default to string.
Presentation settings control the output of the text. For example, you can specify that the text should include a currency symbol or that it should round all numbers up. There is no limit to the number of presentation settings that you can set for an item.
Constraint settings control the text that the user is allowed to input. For example, you can limit input to a range of numbers, to a particular length, or to a specific pattern, such as the common #-##.
