Compiling pipe JAR fils and JDK versions
When compiling pipe JAR files, you should select a JDK version that matches the JDK used by your target application. For example, if your pipes are intended to run in WebSphere
® Application Server for z/OS
® 6.0, you should set your compiler to use Java
™ 1.4, because that is the version of Java
installed with WebSphere
Application Server. If you intend your pipes to run with another servlet container (for example Tomcat), compile your pipes to use the Java
version used by the servlet container. For detailed information on how to set your compiler to use a specific JDK, see the documentation that came with your compiler or development environment.
Closing Forms Services Platform projects in Designer
If you close a Forms Services Platform project, the project looks closed in Navigator view, but does not look correctly closed in the Component Navigator view. The files are properly removed, but the categories remain. If you then reopen the project, everything will look as expected.
However, if you close and restart the Designer the project is removed from the Component Navigator view. If you try to open the project in Navigator view, the project does not appear in Component Navigator view until the Designer is restarted again.
To avoid this problem, do not close Forms Services Platform projects in Designer.
Copying and pasting in the Component Navigator view
If you use the arrow keys to navigate through the Designer's Component Navigator view, copying and pasting might not work as expected. This occurs when you try to paste a form into a new folder in the Component Navigator view.
Specifically, if you copy a form in the Component Navigator View, navigate to another folder using the arrow keys, and then paste the form you copied, the folder that is selected may not be the folder that receives the copied form. The form is actually pasted in the folder immediately before or after the selected folder. Furthermore, a Name Conflict
message may appear, even though the selected folder is empty
To avoid this problem, click on the folders in the Component Navigator view, instead of using the arrow keys to navigate.

Menu items do not always appear in the Component Navigator view
The Extract Instances and Extract Schema menu items do not always appear in the Designer's Component Navigator view.
To avoid this issue, you need to navigate to the Extract Instances and Extract Schema menu items in the following manner:
- In the Instance or Schema category, double-click to open an XML file.
- Select the Forms category.
- Select a form in the Forms category and then right-click it.
