Functions perform tasks and computations that aid in creating automatic and dynamic forms.
They perform string operations such as conversion to lowercase, mathematical operations such as arc sine, several date and time functions, and other operations such as duplicating form items.
See XFDL function calls LFD 4 Designer
for a description of the functions that are available to you.
In addition, you can use custom functions that you either write yourself or import from other sources.
Custom functions are sometimes called extensions. They provide services that are not part of the standard set of functions, or that might be too complicated or too difficult to perform with actions.
Custom functions are written in either C or Java
™. Functions written in Java
can be embedded in the form, or they can be distributed to client machines. Functions written in C must be distributed to client machines. Instructions on how to create, use, and distribute custom functions are included in the IBM
® Forms Server – API documentation.
