The XPath Editor performs a variety of functions based on either the Standard or Advanced IBM
® Forms Designer perspective. This overview provides a basic description of the tasks performed in each perspective.
The XPath Editor is only launched for items that have XForms. In the Standard IBM
Forms Designer perspective, XPath expressions are bound to data models to allow data mapping between items on the form and the data model. In the Advanced IBM
Forms Designer perspective, these bound expressions are used to control a variety of options on the form, such as what does or does not appear to the viewer, colors, or the content of labels.
Binding XPath data elementsParent topic: Adding interactive features
Binding connects presentation items to data elements. The bind defines what information the data element displays. In this example, entry fields on two pages are bound together so data is displayed on the second page of the form when the user enters it on the first.
Creating an action using the XPath Editor
In this example, an XPath expression is used to automatically duplicate the shipping address as the billing address. This example requires the use of the AdvancedIBM
Forms Designer perspective.
