The Designer is a WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) form creation tool. Adding items to a form is done by dragging-and-dropping items from the Palette onto the form.
When you first open the Designer, you see a welcome page where you can learn about the Eclipse platform or link to online help resources. If you click New Form
, the New Form wizard guides you through the set up of your form. If you want to use a preexisting form template, select the radio button beside "A form template:"
and use one of the pre-made templates, or click Add Templates
to add a template of your own. Once you have finished in the New Form wizard, the page will appear on the screen with a palette of items on the left-hand side of the screen.
The Palette is located on the left-hand side of your form and displays the most commonly used items, such as Label
, and Field
. When you drop items onto your form, the Properties window opens so you can set properties for the item. The Properties window is activated and deactivated by clicking the
icon located at the top right of the Palette.
