Formatting items for form design
January 17, 2014
Format properties give you control over how users input requested information into your form and how information on the form is displayed. You can apply format properties to most items in the Palette. Format properties are located in the Properties window that opens when you drop items onto your form.
The Format tab contains a number of properties depending on the type of item you drop onto your form. Some format properties include:
— Determines the type of information the item should accept. For example, if the type of an entry field is
, then will only accept currency values (whole or decimal numbers) as input.
— Sets the type of capitalization the user will see when filling in the form.
— Inserts a pre-made sequence, such as gender or phone number. The Patterns shown are based on the form's locale. When you choose a pattern, a description and example appear. A pre-made hover help message is also inserted for you.
