The first time you create a new form, the Designer displays the form in the Standard IBM Forms Designer
perspective. This perspective is designed to make creating forms as easy and intuitive as possible and consists of the following elements:
- The Design Canvas – Where you build and preview your forms. You can have multiple forms open at once; each one is represented by a tab on the Design canvas. Click Viewer to preview the form in the Viewer or Webform Server to preview the form in Webform Server.
- The Palette – Contains tools that let you add items to the form.
- The Outline view – Displays the hierarchical structure of every item in the form. The order you see here is the default order the user will tab through the form.
Once you become more comfortable using the Designer and you want to see the form's source code, debug problems, or work with the form's data layer, you can switch to the Advanced IBM Forms Designer
perspective. In addition to the standard elements, the advanced perspective displays more information to help you design forms.
