You can use DB2
®, Oracle, or Derby as the Access Control Database for Webform Server.
Parent topic: Before installing
If you are using DB2
or Oracle, you must create a database before installing Webform Server.
- Create a database and give it a convenient name. You will need this name when you run the installer. The default name that the installer uses is WS_ACDB. You will also need the user name and password of a user with permission to create tables and to add and remove data.
- Take note of the port that your database uses. Typically, the port for DB2 is 50000 and the port for Oracle is 1521, but they might be different on your system.
If you are using Derby, you do not need to create a database. The installer will do this for you.
Derby is for use in development environments only. Do not use Derby when deploying your applications in a production environment.
- When setting up a clustered environment, do not create multiple databases. The Shared File Cache and all the translator servers in a cluster must connect to the same database.
- Translator will create the necessary tables in the empty database on the first query to the database.
