You can transfer print requests to another Translator Server on the network.
The remote printing feature allows you to have a Translator on your network that is dedicated to handling print requests. When a Translator receives a print request, it can forward the request to a different Translator. The other Translator performs the print operation and returns the result to the original Translator. Both Translator servers must use the same Shared File Cache and the same Access Control Database.
Two settings in the translator.properties file manage remote printing. The two settings are printingMode and printServiceURL.
To set up remote printing:
- Stop Translator server.
- Open the translator.properties file.
- Locate the printingMode setting and modify it.
It should be as follows:
- Locate the printServiceURL setting and modify it.
- Save the translator.properties file.
- Start Translator server.
After you have started Translator, it will pass all requests to the server at the URL that you specified in the printServiceURL setting. Note that the maxPrintProcesses setting is ignored by Translator when its printingMode is set to remote.
