Is it necessary to configure MX records before verifying ownership of domain. Can we do that after the verification process ?

My customer wants to migrate from an old System and we need to take care of a coexistence period.

Re: Configuring MX record
Thank you for posting your question to the LotusLive Notes forum.

No, it is not necessary to configure the MX records before verifying ownership of the domain. We use the CNAME record to verify domain ownership.  You can leave the MX record in place until you are ready to switch mail over to LotusLive Notes.   This process makes the coexistence/transition period very painless.

Re: Configuring MX record
LLN will ask you to create a host record in the domain that you want to provision users on with CNAME pointing to lotuslive.com

Re: Configuring MX record
By the way, what is the MX record? Is it the same for all lotuslive notes users? We are planning to do it on a hybrid envoirnment.

Re: Configuring MX record
A Mail eXchange (MX) record identifies an SMTP host to which mail for a domain is sent.  Yes, the MX record will be the same for all LLN users.

When you configure the MX record, specify the following as the host name:
smtp.notes.lotuslive.com

Re: Configuring MX record

Just as an update to the above thread, as there has been some changes since the last message, the documentation about how to setup MX can be found here :
http://www-10.lotus.com/ldd/bhwiki.nsf/xpDocViewer.xsp?lookupName=Administering+SmartCloud+Notes%3A+Service-only+Environment#action=openDocument&res_title=Configuring_the_MX_record_for_a_domain_SO&content=pdcontent&sa=true

The URLs are now :

If you use the United States data center, specify : smtp.notes.na.collabserv.com.
If you use the Asia Pacific data center, specify : smtp.notes.ap.collabserv.com
