In a Hybrid SmartCloud environment is the password used to login to a user's SmartCloud mail the same as the HTTPPassword in the on premise Domino Directory? Are there two entities which should sync or are they meant to be maintained separately? In the days of iNotes the HTTPPassword was used to access web mail and other HTTP resources.

HTTPPassword

Hi Lester

See here :

https://www-10.lotus.com/ldd/bhwiki.nsf/dx/Password_Synchronization_in_IBM_SmartCloud_Notes

"The Notes and Domino web/internet (http) password is not used in the SmartCloud "

So yes, it's a different password used to access the SmartCloud Notes environment than the one you have in an on-premises Domino server as the HTTPPassword.
And there is no possibility to synchronize them.

There are however possibilities to leverage federated authentication and have the password managed in your on-premises environment :

Not via the Domino HTTP password though.

I hope this helps.
