SmartCloud Sametime questions

Customer has a local Sametime server. They also bought licenses for Mail and Sametime in SmartCloud. Now they want move all users to SmartCloud with Sametime functionality.
Since local Sametime and SmartCloud Sametime is separate then it would be logical to:
1) Move all mailfiles to SmartCloud (and still use old sametime)
2) When all is moved then enable SmartCloud Sametime
3) Now all users will magically be using the new Sametime
I have a feeling that number 3 is not that easy. Does anybody have experience with this?  How did it turn out?

We will do it this way. Due to the lack of functionality in Sametime in the SmartCloud you want to wait for an upgrade. Probably wont be this weekends and not March either but maybe the April release.
