The change in user interface architecture from Lotus Quickr version 8.2 to version 8.5 has resulted in some less obvious changes to functionality.
End users also should review the Hot Fix readme for solutions to 8.2 > 8.5.1 upgrade issues.
| Difference | Description | Workaround/Resolution |
| View preferences not remembered when navigating in the web interface | In 8.2
When in a folder, a user could choose which view she preferred, (for example, to view 10, 20, or 50 items, and so on.). These settings would be remembered through the session through the use of a cookie.
In 8.5
The cookie is no longer supplied. As soon as a user leaves the place, the page is reloaded and the settings disappear. | Planned to enhance in an upcoming FixPack release. |
| Unable to change the Index folder properties | In 8.2
It was possible to edit the folder properties for the Index same as for a normal folder. For example, a user could change the order of the columns or show/hide columns.
In 8.5
It is no longer possible to edit the place's Index properties. Also, a Room Index in a place or a room no longer has folder properties in the 8.5 theme. | This is being considered for inclusion for a future release of Lotus Quickr for Domino. |
| Changing the document type of a document after it is first created or added to Quickr is not allowed. | In 8.2
This functionality was allowed in Lotus Quickr 8.2. Uploads could have multiple attachments.
In 8.5
It was disabled on the server level for 8.5.x by returning an empty list of doctypes to the Connectors when a request is made for the available ones for an existing document.
This is mainly due to the fact that changing a document's form type from Page to Upload would cause issues.
A page can have multiple attachments, but an upload only can have a single attachment. | This is being considered for inclusion for a future release of Lotus Quickr for Domino. |
| Tasks setting in Customize > Basics seems to be ignored and task assignments ignored, not populating the To field automatically. | In 8.2
After assigning a task, the task originator could simply click Notify and an email would be sent to the assignee without needing to respecify email addresses.
The user creating he task simply clicks Check In With Options and then chooses email notify. A message pops up and the assignee's email address is already in the To field..
In 8.5
Instead, when a user can click Notify while creating the task and then saves the task, the message is formated but the user needs to add email addresses manually. | Already fixed. Please try the latest hot fix. |
| Quickr PeopleOnline31.jar applet no longer available | In 8.2
Quickr PeopleOnline31.jar applet provided a Sametime chat list of all the members in 8.2.
In 8.5
The Quickr PeopleOnline31.jar applet is present but does not work with the Quickr 8.5 theme as it did in 8.2. A user can go to the place's Member view to select the member you wish to chat with but this is not useful when inviting a large number of people. | The PeopleOnline31.jar applet is still in the Quickr 8.5.x for Domino installation package but is not used in the Quickr 8.5 theme web UI. However it still can be accessed through Quickr 8.2 theme.
Development will post a customization solution on the Lotus Quickr wiki covering how to enable "Members on-line chat" with the Quickr 8.5 theme.
In the end user online help, the "Using the Members view" topic explains "Hover over a user name to display a person's business card, which provides contact information, an indication of their online availability for chats, and a picture. You can click More Actions on the business card to initiate a chat, view the person's profile, or to download her V-card."

| Email notifications no longer have the option to include the first 30 words of a Page. | In 8.2
On a receiving an email notification, the recipient could get an idea of the Page content without needing to open it by reading the 30 word summary.
In 8.5
This capability is not available. | Already fixed. Please try the latest hot fix. |
| Access Blogs/Wikis through Connectors | In 8.2
It was possible to access blogs and wikis from any of the connectors.
In 8.5
Blogs and wikis do not appear in a connector's Places list. Connectors just show Libraries and folders, Home, and Trash. | Wikis and blog features do not support some features of the Quickr 8.5 standard team place, for example,
- Wiki and Blogs do not support trash
- Wiki/Blog version implementation and service is different from standard team place
For the above reason, the Lotus Quickr 8.5 server no long returns Wikis and Blog places along with standard team places to the Connector. Since Connector 8.2 and Connector 8.5 call the same Quickr service to retrieve places list, this new behavior is consistent when using both these versions of Connector working with Quickr 8.5. |
| When sending a notification you are unable to include yourself in the notification. | In 8.2
When sending a notification, you could select to include yourself in the notification email.
In Quickr 8.5
A user was unable to send the notification to herself until the hotfix became available. | This has been addressed and fixed in FP 8.5.1.4 so that you can again include yourself in the notification. |
| Sametime meetings | In 8.2
A user had the option of clicking New > Online Meeting.
In 8.5
The user must go to a Calendar event to initiate a Sametime meeting. | No plan to change yet, It seems more reasonable to schedule a Sametime meeting through a calendar as Quickr 8.5 does now.

| Support for html import | In 8.2
Users could import a HTML page using the ActiveX control in Internet Explorer.
In 8.5
The feature of "Import HTML" has been dropped in QD85 design because support for the ActiveX control was dropped. | Planned to enhance in 8.5.1.1 fix pack.
There are these two topics geared to dev customizations for html import in wiki:

| Entry Places | In 8.2
Users could create Entry places.
In 8.5
Such places are no longer supported unless an 8.2 server has been retained in the Quickr deployment.
http://www-10.lotus.com/ldd/lqwiki.nsf/dx/Support_for_Lotus_Quickr_Entry_qd851 | Personal file sharing is available using Connections Files, which all Quickr customers are entitled to. |
| Page versus document | In 8.2
The concept of document and page were interchangeable
In 8.5
Initially converted to Pages regardless of number of attachments instead of maintaining the form upload. A new field---called the single-attachment field---was introduced in Quickr 8.5 and has only one field with attachments. Files containing this kind of field are defined as “documents,” while the rest are defined as “pages”. | If you create a page with multiple attachments through the Quickr 8.5 web user interface, you see a folder that has many files of attachments when it is linked with Connector 8.2.
However, if an 8.5 connector is linked to the page, then you can see the same page as in the Quickr library.
The attachments for modifying the page will not be seen or downloaded until you browse the page from the Connector and change the type of the page.

| Editors are now able to create folders in Quickr | In 8.2
Place members with editing access could not also create a folder in a place.
I
n 8.5.x
Now place members with editing access can create a folder in a place. | Planned to make configurable in an upcoming FixPack release.
The ability to create a folder in a place now becomes available to editors by choosing Place Actions > New > Folder. |
| My Places -> Time Zone preferences no longer used for places using 8.5 theme | In 8.2
The client timezone was considered the same as the server's timezone by default, unless end users customized their timezones manually by selecting My Places > Select Time Zone.
In 8.5
The client time zone will be automatically detected from the client machine's regional settings so that the users do not have to customize their time zones anymore.
The reason that this option is still there when navigating into a My Places view is for siutations where there might be both 8.2 and 8.5 theme places. | Clicking My Places -> Select Time Zone functionality is not available for 8.5-themed places and only affects 8.2-themed places. |
