Modifying Quickr 8.5 Default Links
Occasionally, customers would like to change what is displayed in the theme for Quickr 8.5. For example, they would prefer not to show some of the links in the navigation or the footer. This document is designed to help customers customize links that are shown in the default theme and place center .
The first thing to note is that Quickr 8.5 uses themes for the places, but the landing page is actually an application, Place Center, which is used to display the places. So, even if we modify the Quickr theme, we will also have to make changes to the Place Center application to see the same changes.
Modifying Quickr 8.5 footer links:
Default out of the box, you will see the following links provided in the footer for both the theme and Place Center Application.
To remove or add links to the footer of the Quickr theme, modify the following file:
In this example, we will remove the Lotus Connectors link and add a link to internal website.
Edit the footer.jsp and remove the following line in red to remove the connectors link.
Save the footer.jsp and then test. You will notice that the connectors link has been removed.
Then we can add a link to an internal site. In this example, we will add a link to the Help column.
Edit the footer.jsp and add the following line in red:
Save footer.jsp and then test. The results will look like the following:
Modify Quickr Top Navigation Links:
In this scenario, we will discuss removing Links from the navigation. By default, the following links are displayed with Place Center and default theme.
UserName, Edit My Profile, Help and Log Out are displayed by default. If you want to remove any of these links, we will have to modify the theme and use custom property for Place Center to hide the links.
First, we will modify the theme files.
Navigate to the following directory, Quickr/wp_profile/installedApps/local/QuickrThemeApp.ear/wp.theme.quickrtheme.war/themes/html/Quickr and then edit the Default.jsp.
The following are the Links and you can comment out any that you do not want.
Edit My Profile:
These changes will affect the theme when accessing a place. To make the same changes of the hiding the links on the landing page which uses the Place Center Application, install fix
LO66380 which is included in cumulative fix 7. The fixes and cf7 can be downloaded from IBM Fix Central.
After the fixes have been installed, We need to update the custom properties in WebSphere Resouce Environment Providers. To hide either the Help, Edit Profile or Logout, access the WebSphere Administrative console and
navigate to WebSphere Administration Console – Resources – Resource Environment Providers – PlacecntrPropertiesService – Custom properties.
If the properties are not there, you will need to add these. The following are the variable names which are used. They will need to be set to true.
A restart is needed to pick up the WebSphere variables added for the Place Center Application. Once this has been done, you should see the changes when logging into Quickr.
A good reference for making any changes to the Quickr theme is the following document:
