Abstract:  This article provides a deep dive into the user roles shipped with Lotus Quickr services for WebSphere Portal.  Included are screen captures of the user interface (UI) for the welcome page and each of the nine Lotus Quickr components shipped with Lotus Quickr with respect to the four Lotus Quickr roles with the default settings.  The purpose of this article is to guide customers who are adopting Lotus Quickr services for WebSphere Portal and need to map or plan user roles.

Introduction
This article provides a deep dive into the user roles shipped with Lotus Quickr services for WebSphere Portal.  To illustrate the user roles, we will discuss the welcome page and each of the nine Lotus Quickr components with respect to the four Lotus Quickr roles with the default settings.

By default, Lotus Quickr ships with the following roles:  
  • Manager - This is the role given to the creator of a place.  A manager can edit the place and control membership.  A manager can also create, edit, and delete all content within a place.  
  • Editor – An editor can edit and make comments on all content and can create and delete personal content.  
  • Contributor – A contributor can make comments on all content and can create and delete personal content.  
  • Reader – A reader can read content and make comments.



Welcome Page
The welcome page is the first screen shown after you log in to Lotus Quickr.  The items that appear on the welcome page are determined by whether or not you are a Lotus Quickr administrator.  Here is a screen capture of the welcome page for an administrator:



The Welcome page is built based upon the role of the logged in user.  The following table denotes with an X which items will appear based on the user’s role:

Footer

The items that appear on the footer are determined by whether or not you are an administrator.  Here is a screen capture of the footer for an administrator:

Blog Component

A blog is a Web site that displays information in the style of a diary. In a place, the team blog is used to record the milestones of a team or project.  The items that appear on the blog component are determined by the user’s role.  Here is a screen capture of the blog component:

Wiki Component  

A wiki is a Web site created and maintained by the same people who use the Web site. In a place, a wiki is used to display content in the form of editable Web pages called wiki pages.

The items that appear on the wiki component are determined by the user’s role.  Here is a screen capture of the wiki component:


The wiki component is built based upon the role of the logged in user in the place in which the wiki resides.  The following table denotes with an X which items will appear based on the user’s role:
