Upgrading an IBM Lotus QuickPlace server to Lotus Quickr on IBM i

expanded Abstract
collapsed Abstract
No abstract provided.
Upgrading from IBM® Lotus® QuickPlace® 6.5.1 or 7.0 to IBM Lotus QuickrTM 8.2 requires a side-by-side upgrade from the existing Lotus QuickPlace server. In a side-by-side upgrade, a new server is needed that runs IBM Lotus Domino® 8.5 and Lotus Quickr 8.2. The Lotus QuickPlace data files and system settings are first migrated to this new server, known as the target server, then upgraded to Lotus Quickr 8.2. For IBM i® systems, these servers can be on the same or separate systems.

To upgrade from Lotus QuickPlace to Lotus Quickr 8.2 on IBM i, complete these steps:

1. Make sure that you have completed the steps in the Preparing to upgrade topic.

2. If you are upgrading a Lotus QuickPlace server that is set up for offline use, offline users should perform the following steps on their clients before you stop the server for the final time. Users will need to reinstall places offline after the upgrade is complete.

  1. Synchronize offline places with the Lotus QuickPlace server.
  2. Click Start > Programs > Lotus Domino Sync Manager > Uninstall Lotus Domino Sync Manager.

3. Stop the Lotus QuickPlace server for the last time.

4. Perform a final backup of all Lotus QuickPlace data, if it has changed since your initial backup.

5. If you are planning to run Lotus Quickr 8.2 on a different system or LPAR from your Lotus QuickPlace server, update your network configuration.
Move the TCP/IP interface and host table entries associated with the Lotus QuickPlace server to the system where you will run Lotus Quickr. Be sure to also update DNS entries if necessary.

6. Install Lotus Domino 8.5 and configure a new Lotus Domino 8.5 server on the system where you plan to run your Lotus Quickr 8.2 server.
Use the same host name and IP address that was used for the Lotus QuickPlace server.

If your Lotus QuickPlace server uses a Lotus Domino directory as the user directory, there are additional considerations for setting up the new Lotus Domino 8.5 server:
    • If there are additional Lotus Domino servers in your environment that use the same Lotus Domino directory as the Lotus QuickPlace server, register the new Lotus Domino server as an additional Lotus Domino server. Start the new Lotus Domino server and replicate names.nsf between one of the existing Lotus Domino servers and the new server.
    • If your Lotus QuickPlace server is the only Lotus Domino server in your environment, and you are configuring the Lotus Domino 8.5 server on a different system, complete these steps:
      1. Backup the Lotus QuickPlace server.id, cert.id, user.id and names.nsf. Then copy all of the files to the other system.
      2. Configure the new Lotus Domino 8.5 server as the first server in the domain (a standalone server) using the id files from the Lotus QuickPlace server. Remember to specify the same server name, host name and IP address as the Lotus QuickPlace server.
      3. Before starting the server, copy the names.nsf file that you backed up from the Lotus QuickPlace server to the new Lotus Domino server, replacing the existing names.nsf file.
      4. Start the Lotus Domino server and open the server document. Locate Internet Protocols-HTTP-DSAPI-DSAPI filter file names, and remove the parameter value libqp.srvpgm. This parameter was used by Lotus QuickPlace but is not needed for Lotus Quickr. Save the server document.
    • If your Lotus QuickPlace server is the only Lotus Domino server in your environment, and you are configuring the Lotus Domino 8.5 server on the same system as the Lotus QuickPlace server, complete these steps:
      1. Register the new Lotus Domino server as an additional Lotus Domino server.
Use a different server name than the Lotus QuickPlace server. You will also need to use a different host name and IP address for the initial configuration. The host name and IP address can be changed in a later step.
      2. Start both the Lotus QuickPlace server and the new Lotus Domino server and replicate names.nsf to the new Lotus Domino server.
      3. Stop both of the servers.
      4. Since you will no longer be using the Lotus QuickPlace server, you can now use the CHGDOMSVR command to update the configuration of the new Lotus Domino server to use the host name and IP address of the Lotus QuickPlace server.
      5. Start the Lotus Domino server and open the server document. Check the following locations in the server document to ensure the host name and IP address were changed successfully:
        • Internet Protocols-HTTP-Host name
        • Basic-Fully qualified Internet host name
        • Ports-Notes Network Ports-Net Address
7. If your target server is on the same system as your Lotus QuickPlace server, uninstall the Lotus QuickPlace product by running the DLTLICPGM command.

8. Install IBM Lotus Quickr 8.2 on the target system. See Installing on IBM i in the Lotus Quickr 8.2 Information Center.

9. Install the latest available Lotus Quickr 8.2 fix pack for IBM i. Installation instructions are included in the Readme document.

10. If the Lotus Domino 8.5 server is running, stop it.

11. Use the ADDLQPDOM command to configure a Lotus Quickr 8.2 server, using the new Lotus Domino 8.5 server that was configured in step 6. See Adding Lotus Quickr to the Lotus Domino server.
Note:
Be sure to also complete the steps for Enabling the Domino Servlet Engine and if necessary, Enabling UTF-8 Character Encoding.

12. If MSSO is enabled, copy domcfg.nsf to the Lotus Quickr server. Then update the mapping document to change "quickplace/resources.nsf" to "lotusquickr/resources.nsf".

13. Configure the user directory, security and other Lotus Quickr options to match the Lotus QuickPlace options that you recorded earlier.

14. Compare the new qpconfig.xml settings with the saved qpconfig.xml backup file from the Lotus QuickPlace server. Merge customized settings from the backup file to the new file as necessary.

15. Compare the new notes.ini settings with the saved notes.ini backup file from the Lotus QuickPlace server. Merge customized settings from the backup file to the new file as necessary.

16. If your Lotus QuickPlace server was configured for SSL, copy the *.sth and *.kyr files from the Lotus QuickPlace server data directory to the new Lotus Quickr 8.2 server data directory. Use the *.kyr file to enable SSL for the server.

17. Copy the existing Lotus QuickPlace places to the Lotus Quickr 8.2 server.
Use a file system command to copy the place's directory and contents from the /QuickPlace directory on the original server to /LotusQuickr on the target server.
Note:
Copying the place folder can change the owner of the folder. If this change occurs, use the CHGOWN command to restore the original settings

18. Copy the Lotus QuickPlace customized placetypes to the Lotus Quickr 8.2 server.
Use a file system command to copy the customized placetype's directory and contents from the /QuickPlace/AreaType directory on the original server to / LotusQuickr/AreaType on the target server.
Note:
Copying the customized placetype directory can change the owner of the directory. If this change occurs, use the CHGOWN command to restore the original settings.

19. Clear the browser cache on offline clients.
Microsoft® Internet Explorer users who used places offline in a previous release, should perform the following steps to clear their browser cache before installing places offline in the current release.

  1. From Internet Explorer, click Tools > Internet Options > Delete Files.
  2. Click Delete all offline content and click OK.
  3. Click Tools > Internet Options > Settings > View Objects.
  4. Delete the LotusDRSControlClass and the LotusQuickPlaceClass.
  5. Restart the browser.

20. If you have not yet started the Lotus Quickr server, start it now.

21. Proceed to Completing the upgrade.
