2.8 Theme Customization for Wiki and Blog PlaceTypes
This section covers the steps to follow when customizing a wiki placetype,
starting with the default Quickr 8.1 theme. The same procedure can also be
applied to a blog placetype.
The general advice for standard place theme customization is to start from
the Quickr 8.1 theme files. This is even more important for blogs and wikis
since there are pieces of code specific to these placetypes's functionalities
in the HTM layout files as well as in the Quickr81.js file.
Basically, the wiki template uses the same set of HTM layout files as the
While navigating through a place, you can determine which HTM is used by
viewing the HTML source (“View Source” from your browser client) and checking
for the variable currentPageType.
You can re-use the same method applied to the out-of-the-box standard place
to create a custom theme and apply it to your wiki place. Once you have created
your custom HTM and CSS files (which are covered in detail in previous
sections) and your custom skin directory if needed, you can create a custom
theme by uploading these files.

In a wiki place, the “Create theme” and “Choose a theme” pages are hidden in
the list of options displayed in the “Customize” page (compare the options list
in Figure 34– wiki place, and Figure 35– standard place) but they are still
there in the template.

You can re-use the equivalent URL for these pages from a standard place and
replace the reference to the standard place with the wiki place to access these
hidden pages. To illustrate, navigate first within a standard place to the
Custom themes page and save the URL –
Change the place name to your wiki place –
By using this updated URL, you reach the hidden Custom Themes page in your
wiki place, as shown in Figure 32.

You can now create your custom theme by uploading your CSS and HTM files as
explained in a previous section for standard places.
Once the custom theme is created, you need to apply the theme.
Create the URL using the same method to access the “Choose a theme” page and
click on the custom theme that you've just added. As shown in the figure below,
the Millennia custom theme is displayed at the bottom of the list.
