Enable Domino Attachment and Object Service (DAOS) to consolidate attachments in databases in a separate repository on the server so that they can be retrievable by reference.
Ensure that transaction logging is enabled.
With the release of its version 8.5, IBM Lotus Domino server employs the Domino Attachment and Object Service (DAOS) to save significant space at the file level by sharing data identified as identical between databases (applications) on the same server.
To enable Domino Attachment and Object Service (DAOS), an administrator needs to mark multiple selected databases for attachment consolidation as follows:
- From the Lotus Domino Administrator, choose Files -> Advanced Properties.
- Enable the Use Domino Attachment and Object Service advanced database property for every database on the server that you want to be consolidated.
- Run lo compact -c daos on to move existing attachments to the DAOS repository.
