This section provides information on how to transfer individual domains to the databases you have installed and set up.
Domains are the database or schema objects that can be transferred in parts. The domains included in IBM® Lotus® Quickr™ for WebSphere Portal are: Release, Community, Customization, JCR, Feedback, LikeMinds, Place Center, Search Center, and Quickr Admin. Separating your data allows you to share domains across multiple portals. The different domains can also be spread across different database types. For example, you can choose to leave LikeMinds data on DB2® and move all other data to another database.
Release and JCR data cannot be shared between multiple Portal instances.
To maximize availability, categories of Lotus Quickr data for each domain may be distributed across multiple databases and shared between multiple lines of production. You need to decide how the categories should be distributed into different databases. Lotus Quickr data is categorized into four categories.
- Community data are typically modified during production (such as shared documents or application resource). Typically administrators are allowed to modify or delete shared resources. Community data is protected by access control.
- Configuration data are system properties of the Lotus Quickr server such as database connection, object factories, and deployment descriptors. This type of data is stored in the file system and is typically constant over the uptime of a server node.
- Release data are typically not modified during production (such as administrator defined pages, portlets, and portlet instances). Typically administrators create release data on an integration server and stage it to the production system. Release data can be protected by access control.
- Customization data are associated with a particular user only and that cannot be shared across users or user groups. Typical examples are Portlet Data or Implicitly Derived Pages. Customization data is protected by access control.
