There are a variety of tools available to help you complete administration tasks. There are links to administration sites within the IBM® Lotus® Quickr™ for WebSphere Portal footer which go to Places Administration, Place Catalog Administration, or Advanced Administration.
The links to Places Administration, Place Catalog Administration, and Advanced Administration are visible only to server administrators.
Manage places, templates, and policies. View statistics about a place and configure search services. Any authenticated user can create a place, unless place creation has been restricted by the administrator. Place Catalog Administration
Add sources to make IBM Lotus Quickr for WebSphere Portal places and templates available to users in places catalog.Advanced Administration
Sources are connections to servers or clusters containing Lotus Quickr places and templates. The servers publish metadata about their places and templates, and sources collect that metadata in an index. Place metadata then displays in lists of places in the Public Places and My Places views. Template metadata displays when users create a new place. By default metadata is collected automatically on a schedule, but you can control collections for each source.
Note: Only place and template metadata is collected, not the actual place content.
Because IBM Lotus Quickr for WebSphere Portal is built on IBM WebSphere® Portal technology, you can take advantage of the following administration tools provided with the portal:
- XML configuration interface: Provides a batch processing interface for portal configuration updates. It allows you to export an entire portal configuration or parts of a configuration, for example specific pages, to an XML file.
- Portal Scripting Interface: Allows you to create scripts that portal administrators can use to perform administrative tasks from a command line.
- Administration portlets: Perform administration tasks and actions on portal resources, give other users limited access rights on selected resources, and deploy custom portlets, themes, or skins. To access the administration portlets, click Advanced Administration from the footer.
- IBM WebSphere Application Server administrative console: Control whether public places are visible to everyone or only authenticated users or keep authenticated users from being able to create places. To access the administrative console to go http://lotusquickrserver:10041/ibm/console and log in with your WebSphere Application Server user ID and password.
