Users of IBM® Lotus® Quickr Connectors can choose between Basic and Integrated Windows® authentication types.
About this task
The IBM Lotus Quickr Connectors can support the following types of authentication for users:
- Integrated Windows Authentication
- Basic Authentication over HTTPS can be provided by Siteminder.

Using Basic authentication
About this task
If you intend for your Connectors implementation to use Basic authentication, it must protect the /dm context root. It is highly recommended that the /dm context root be further protected by https. Not doing so might expose the credentials to any kind of network sniffing attack. In addition, the connectors do not support http redirects (permanent or temporary).
Using Integrated Windows authentication
About this task
Connector users can also use Integrated Windows Authentication, which allows them to login to Lotus Quickr using their Windows® login credentials.
With the Lotus Quickr 8.5 Connectors installed, users can use Integrated Windows
Authentication (sometimes referred to as SPNEGO) out-of-the -box with Lotus
Quickr 8.5 for Domino and Lotus Quickr 8.5 for Portal. No additonal
configuration steps are necessary as with the previous release of the
Quickr Domino support for SPNEGO is provided by the Domino Server.
In some cases, administrators prefer to
control the authentication type that their users are expected to use. Setting
and pushing those parameters out to end user desktops obviates the need for end
users to set the authentication type themselves. In the Windows registry,
an administrator can set the following key that indicates that the SSO (single
sign-on) menu option should be enabled: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\IBM\Lotus
Quickr\Desktop Integration\Settings\EnableSSO. To establish the
Integrated Windows Authentication settings, there are two registry keys that are
of interest to administrators. Setting the registry key
Integration\Settings\Default Auth Type to a value of 2 establishes the default
type authentication type to be Integrated Windows Authentication.

8.5 for WebSphere Portal see Setting up support for Windows Single Sign on on the Lotus Quickr 8.5 for WebSphere Portal
End users have the option to specify Integrated Windows Authentication as the authentication type for each server they use or they can specify that Integrated Windows Authentication is the default authentication type for all servers that they use.
To enable Integrated Windows Authentication as the authentication type for an individual server, users can change a server's authentication type preference by accessing the Servers section under the connector's Places > Preferences, highlighting a particular server name in the Servers list, and specifying Integrated Windows Authentication in the Authentication Type field.
To enable for Integrated Windows
Authentication to be the default authentication type for all servers, users can select the option in the default authentication type preference by accessing the Servers section under the connector's Places > Preferences and specifying Integrated Windows Authentication in the Default Authentication Type field.
the registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\IBM\Lotus Quickr\Desktop
Integration\Settings\Default Auth Type Policy to a value of 1 prevents end users
from being able to change the authentication type value.
