Specify the settings for up to three subtotal groups. Each tab has the same layout. To create subtotal groups, please follow the steps:

1. Select the table or the area in the table that you want to calculate subtotals for, and then choose Data - Subtotals.
2. In the Group By box, select the column by which you want to use to group the subtotals.
3. In the Calculate subtotals for box, select the check boxes for the columns containing the values that you want to subtotal.
4. In the Use function box, select the function that you want to use to calculate the subtotals. You have to assign function to each selected column individually.
5. Click OK.
   

Group by

Select the column that you want to use to control the subtotal calculation process. The subtotals are grouped by the column you select in this box.

Calculate subtotals for

Select the one or more columns containing the values that you want to subtotal.

Use function

Select the mathematical function that you want to use to calculate the subtotals. You have to assign function to each selected column individually.

After subtotals are created, you can modify the subtotals by editing the function.

Syntax: SUBTOTAL(function_num:range1:range2:...)

Function_num is the number 1 to 11 that specifies which function to use in calculating subtotals.

Range1, range2... are ranges for which you want to subtotal.
