Plug-ins are additions to Lotus Symphony that provide extra features and functionality to Lotus Symphony. The
Lotus Symphony Learning Plug-in offers a quick way to view demos, tutorials, tours, and reference cards as you work in Lotus Symphony. This wiki article provides steps for installing and uninstalling a plug-in. Alternately, you can watch a
video of how to install a plugin, or
uninstall a plugin.
The learning plugin runs on the following operating systems:
- Windows
- Linux (Ubuntu, Red Hat, Suse)
- Macintosh
Note: The learning plug-in described here has been tested with the standalone version of Lotus Symphony 1.2 only.

If you are installing on Linux, perform the following steps, otherwise skip this part.
Prerequisite steps for Linux users only
Before you download and install the learning plugin, get the Mozilla package to support the Lotus Symphony Learning plug-in.
- Download and install XULRunner.
- Type the following:
sudo apt-get install xulrunner
- Edit .bashrc and add the following line:
MOZILLA_FIVE_HOME=/usr/lib/xulrunner-1.9/

To download and install the Learning plug-in
1.
Click here to download the learning plugin.zip file and save to your desktop. Do not extract the contents of the ZIP file.

Start Lotus Symphony, and from the main menu, click
File->Application->Install.
3. Select
Search for new features to install, and click
Next.
4. In the Application Locations window, click
Add Zip/Jar Location, and navigate to where you saved the downloaded plug-in file.
5. Select the zipped file from your local folder.
6. Click
Finish.
7. Select the plugin from the list and click
Next.
8. If you agree, accept the license terms.
9. Click
Finish.
10. Restart Lotus Symphony.
11. Drag open the Lotus Symphony Learning Plug-In on the right side of Symphony.

To uninstall a plugin
1. In Lotus Symphony, click
File->Application->Application Management.
2. Open the the folder that contains the plugin:
\IBM\ Lotus\Symphony\framework\shared\eclipse
3. Select the Lotus Symphony Learning Plug-In. Click
Uninstall in the right panel, and then click
OK to confirm the uninstallation
.
4. Restart Lotus Symphony to finish the uninstallation.
