Installing Mashup Center on Windows
Before installing this fix pack, be sure that you are familiar with the Mashup Center system requirements.
Prerequisite: Prepare the InstallShield directory for Enterprise Content Manager feeds (Windows 2008)
In order to create feeds from an Enterprise Content Manager (ECM) repository, you must prepare the InstallShield directory before you install Mashup Center. This prerequisite applies only to new installations on Windows® 2008. The ECM feeds include feeds created from repositories on FileNet® P8 Content Manager, DB2® Content Manager, and SharePoint Services. The preparation steps differ for administrators and for nonadministrators.
To prepare the InstallShield directory, do the following steps:
If you are installing Mashup Center V2.0.0.2 on Windows 2008 as an administrator, do these steps:
- Go to the C:\program files\Common Files\InstallShield\Universal\Common directory.
- Delete the Gen2 folder and all its files.
If you are installing Mashup Center V2.0.0.2 on Windows 2008 and you do not have administrator privileges, do these steps:
- Ensure that you can view hidden files:
- Go to Control panel > Appearance > Folder options.
- Click Show hidden files and folders.
- Go to the C:\Users\\AppData\Roaming\InstallShield\Universal\Common directory.
- Delete the Gen2 folder and all its files.
To install Mashup Center 2.0.0.2 on Windows 2003 or 2008, do the following steps:
- Extract the files to a local directory.
- In a Windows command prompt window, change directory to the Mashup Center installation directory, and run install.bat.
- During installation, select your preferred language, and click OK.
- On the Welcome page, click Next.
- On the License page, accept the license agreement, and click Next.
- On the Components page, select the components that you want to install, and click Next.
- On the Installation Location page, select the installation destination directory for Mashup Center, and click Next. The default location is C:\Program Files\IBM\Mashup Center\2.0. Note that the directory path cannot contain special characters, for example ( and ). See the Known issues section below for more details.
- On the Administrator ID page, type the Mashup Center administrator's user name and password, and click Next.
- On the Installation page, confirm that the information is correct, and click Install. The installation process may take up to 10 minutes, depending on the server's hardware configuration.
- On the Installation Summary page, click Done.
- To confirm that you have installed Mashup Center successfully, open the Windows Start menu, and locate All Programs > IBM Mashup Center v2.0. Click Lotus Mashups to open the mashup builder.
Known issues
The following section contains information about known issues in Mashup Center.
- The installation directory cannot contain special characters, for example the ( and ) characters in C:\Program Files (x64). The recommended default directory is C:\Program Files\IBM\Mashup Center\2.0.
- Internet Explorer, version 8.0.7600.16385, is not supported on Mashup Center, version 2.0.0.2.
- If Mashup Center is installed on a Windows 2008 server by a user who does not have administrator privileges, then Mashup Center will not display in the Windows Add or Remove Programs list.
To uninstall Mashup Center (all components: MashupHub, Lotus Mashups, and WebSphere Application Server), do these steps:
- Go to the INSTALLDIR/Uninstall directory.
- Click uninstall.bat.
- When using Internet Explorer, after configuring the Chart widget with a data source and then taking certain actions such as switching from the page with the Chart widget to another page, you may notice a memory leak. The Mashup Center development team is aware of this issue and is making efforts to find a fix. Until a fix is delivered, try using Mozilla Firefox.
