Overview

Often during the course of investigation, IBM support will provide a test fix to obtain more information or a patch to resolve defects until the solution is incorporated into the next release. How do administrators apply these test fixes and patches?

Plug-ins

Many patches are in the form of JAR (Java Archive) files, which are Eclipse plug-ins. These plug-ins are located in the following directories depending on your product.

Mashup Center - C:\IBM\Mashup Center\3.0\mm\eclipse\plugins
Business Space - C:\IBM\WebSphere\BusComp\BusinessSpace\mm.runtime\eclipse\plugins

To apply a plug-in patch, perform the following operations.
  1. Stop the WebSphere server.
  2. Copy the plug-in JAR provided by IBM support into the plugins directory. (Generally, there should not be a plugin with the same filename. If there is, backup the original file before replacing.)
  3. From within the AppServer's bin directory for example, C:\IBM\Mashup Center\3.0\AppServer\bin, run the following scripts.
    1. osgiCfgInit
    2. clearClassCache
  4. Start the WebSphere server.
