This topic describes how user preferences are set and stored for OpenSocial gadgets.
When working with gadgets on a page, users do not see the same edit, configure, and personalize options that are available for widgets. This is because gadget preferences are handled by the user interface of the gadget itself, and those preferences are stored in the Mashup Center database. As users make changes in the gadget's interface, those changes are loaded into the database as user preferences. Whenever users reload their gadgets on the page, those user preferences are fed back to the gadget and are rendered in the user interface.
