A space is a collection of pages. A space is typically used to organize a set of pages that are associated with a specific role or department and are used to group pages of widgets that users need to complete a set of associated tasks.
To organize your application, you can create two types of spaces:
- Spaces that contain pages and widgets and are used by users to process work
- Spaces that contain step processor pages
When you create a space that is dedicated to step processor pages, you can use the space collect and manage the step processor pages for your application. In addition, when a step processor page is stored in a central location, the step processor page is defined once but can be accessed from multiple spaces.
A step processor page is associated with a step in a workflow and is used to process work items. A step processor page is displayed when a user opens a work item in their in-basket.
To enable users to access a space, you must share the space with users. You can provide access to individual users, by specifying user IDs, or groups of users, by specifying roles.
By default, the pages in a space have the same privilege settings (viewing privileges or editing privileges) as the space. For example, if a user has privilege to view the space, the user has privilege to view the pages in the space. However, you can limit a user's access to only specific pages in the space. For example, a manager might have access to all of the pages in a space, but employees might have access to only a subset of the pages in the space.
