You use the Viewer widget to display documents that are stored in FileNet® P8 object stores or on the Content Manager EE server.
For FileNet P8 documents, the Viewer widget uses the Workplace XT Image Viewer applet to display and annotate image documents. For other document formats, such as Adobe® PDF, the document is displayed in the Viewer widget if the browser has a plug-in for the MIME type of the document or if the browser provides native support for the format. If not, the browser prompts you to open the document with an application that is installed on the client or to save the file.
For Content Manager EE documents, the Viewer widget uses WEBi Viewer applet to display documents.
If you own the page that the Viewer widget is on or have permission to edit the page, you can configure the widget.
Troubleshooting the Viewer widget
If you attempt to add an attachment when a document is loaded in the Viewer widget, the Add Attachment wizard might not appear. This problem occurs because in Web browsers, such as Internet Explorer 7 or later and Firefox, the viewer appears on top of all other objects in the browser. If a document is loaded in the Viewer widget and you attempt to add an attachment, the wizard window is displayed behind the viewer. To avoid this problem:
- Adjust the position of the Viewer widget so that it does not overlap the Add Attachment wizard.
- Do not load a document in the Viewer widget before you add an attachment.
If you use the Firefox browser to log in to your mashup environment, the Viewer widget might not correctly display PDF documents after you minimize the browser window. This problem is caused by a Firefox limitation. To workaround this problem, maximize the viewer and then restore it or reopen the PDF document.
