You can use variables with the Source, Filter, For Each, Group, Merge, and Transform operators.
To use a variable, the variable must be either implicitly defined in the feed, or you must explicitly declare the variable in MashupHub. Sometimes the URL that you specify in a Source operator contains implicitly defined variables. For example, in the following URL, p
is an implicitly defined variable with the value of AYXX0010
is an implicitly defined variable with the value of c
You use variables on specific parameters or elements in a feed. Click the drop-down in the Value column for the parameter or element and select Use a variable to return the value
. In the window that appears, select a variable that has already been defined, or explicitly declare a variable.
To explicitly declare a variable, specify a name for the variable. If you do not specify a default value, the data mashup might not preview or run correctly in the data mashup builder. The description is optional.
When you display the details for a data mashup in the catalog, selecting View Feed in Browser
will run the data mashup. If the data mashup uses a declared variable, you are prompted for the value for the variable when you click the link to view the feed. Any declared variables that are not used in the data mashup are ignored.
