Contents: Creating mashups : Mashup Center 2.0
The widget builder provides wizards to guide you through the widget creation process. You can work with the two default wizards provided with Mashup Center, or you can create your own wizards based on an existing widget.
Wizards behave similar to templates because they provide a complete widget framework that you simply customize and configure to meet the needs of your new custom widget. However, unlike a standard template, these wizards also guide you through the process of configuring, customizing, saving, and sharing your widget.
Mashup Center provides two default wizards – one based on the Data Viewer
widget and the other based on the Web Site Displayer
widget. When you create a new custom widget using one of these default wizards, you create a completely new widget but with all the same settings and definitions that come by default with the widget.
In the mashup builder, you can also create your own wizard to use when creating widgets. In this case, you simply upload a widget package from your local machine and build a new widget based on the definition settings for that widget. For example, if you locate a widget in the catalog that you want to use as a template for a new widget, you can simply add that widget to your local machine as a ZIP file, and then upload that ZIP file back into the mashup builder as a wizard.
