App Dev 10.Aug.06 11:47 AM a Web browser
Applications Development 7.0.1 FP1; 7.0.1; 7.0 All Platforms

Supposed you have received the task of developing an integrated information system that would 'touch' the majority of your company's departments.

You have received functional specifications for modules for Sales, Manufacturing, Marketing, HR, Accounting, IT, and R&D.

Portions of the functional specs required pretty heavy accounting features, or at least a high level of integration (bi-directional) with a true accounting package. Other parts of the specs require a high level of data manipulation through complex and dynamic table data driven algorithms. Structured workflow is prevelant throughout all modules.

All of the modules require reporting, and the request includes the requirement to use Business Object's Crystal Reports for reporting.

Additionally, there is a requirement to provide a web based interface for your vendors and customers to specific portions of the environment...including some data input. Also, there are a few requirements to produce XML data files that will be transmitted to regulating agencies.

The system will be used in an organization that currently has 50 employees and will 'never grow' to more than 500 employees.

The organization currently uses Domino/Notes 7 for email, calender, task management and a few web facing applications.

Finally, as an additional/seperate thought the CEO would like to build this package for sale to other like organizations.

What platform would you choose and why? Please consider both situations: internal use only ... packaged software for commercial sale (assume that the functionality meets the needs of other organizations who are actively looking for this type of package.)
