Notes Client All Releases All Platforms

I'm sorry, I've had this problem about 6 times and I just have to speak out.

Does the Lotus Notes team eat their own dogfood? Do they use Notes themselves? Do they realize how terrible the user interface is?

Here's just a small example:

When there's a file attachment in an email, it gives you three options: View, Edit, Save As. "Edit" should probably be named "Lose Your Data."

If you "Edit" a document, it brings up Excel (or whatever) and opens the document up for you... but oh wait, the actual FILE is still in the temp directory. So you're editing your document, saving it when you make changes, all happy. Now you're done so you close it.

But wait, god forbid Notes have a cluttered temp directory, so the instant you close the file, Lotus Notes deletes it without warning. It deletes the file the user was JUST working on and saving without even telling them about it!

Then the user invariably comes to me (support) saying, "Notes lost the last 4 hours of my work!" I feel for them, but what can I do?

This is just one of the huge UI flaws in Lotus Notes. How come the scrollwheel on my mouse works in some views but not in others? And, in the ones where it works, how come it scrolls quickly in some and slowly in others? Why do I have to put my cursor in the body of an email before attaching a file? What's the point of that? Why does F5 *not* perform a refresh, but instead lock me out? Do you know how many times I hit F5 a day to refresh my email list, and end up locked out? How come the address book sucks so much?

How come the Macintosh version of Notes doesn't look or behave like any other Macintosh application? How come the Windows version doesn't look or behave like any other Windows software? Why does Notes take so long (and so much memory) to open and close itself?

And yes, I'm ranting. I'm sorry, you get to the point where you just can't take it anymore. One of my users just lost 4 hours of work because the interface to Lotus Notes sucks, and this is about all I can do about it.
