I had a similar issue with user accessing his mail database on a server. there was no problem accessing a replica on another server. And I had no problem accessing it from other computers. I guessed it had to be something on his local laptop. I tried all kinds of things compact, fixup, updall, deleted cache.ndk and bookmark.nsf. Nothing worked. I remembered setting him up with local replica of his mail db about a year ago. I checked it out. Sure enough it was still R5 (everything we use is 6.5.5 now). Deleted the local replica and voila - everything worked great.
