You have a point, although not a perfect one. I am sorry if I came off as arrogant, and I am certainly sorry if you think that I meant to imply that you were planning to abuse the forum. Certainly not. I simply meant that others have before and that that is why the support was removed.
I wish that this forum supported some sort of rich text editing, although the rich text applet that ships with Notes is NOT good enough. The part I object to is the idea that pass through HTML is the "right" way to accomplish this. No matter how smart the parser, if you allow passthrough HTML, you can get around the parsing. Still, that is not why I object. I object because this is not a web forum. This is a combined web/Notes client forum, used by many in both clients. When you use passthrough HTML to emphasize or format information, you make the contents very difficult to read for the Notes client users, whereas when I use text formatting to emphasize or format information from a Notes client, I do not make your life difficult. I'll grant you that this is largely Lotus' fault, as they have never come up with a good way to convert the passthrough HTML to rich text on the fly, but the fact of the matter is, if I make a list like the one below:
- Item 1
- Item 2
- Item 3
<ol><li>Item 1<li>Item 2<li>Item 3<ol>
or something of that nature, but you will see the list rendered in HTML. While I wish that rich text editing were provided for the web interface, it isnt, while it is for the Notes client. Thus, I suggested the Notes client as a better solution for everybody who is reading, as the formatting is then useful to all.
Sorry if I offended you.
