Notes Client 6.5.5 Macintosh

Has anyone come across this issue with a notes client before?

The client version is 6.5.3 with standard R6 mail template running on Mac OS 10.3.9. Recently, when the user creates a memo and clicks the send button the notes application hangs in a sending state for several minutes, even with very small message sizes (>1 MB).

This does not happen when the user connects outside of the office, nor does it happen when he works from his local database. In essence, it only happens when he connects to the server mail database from within the office from his Mac computer (we have also tested the user's mail database from another computer with no problems).

Lotus support reports that it is a network issue, however all other network applications and protocols appear to be normal (web services, printing, file sharing, including lotus database access). I've removed the notes preference file and reconfigured the user's setup profile. I've also compacted the database and run a repair file permissions on the root OS. The issue appears to only appear when sending email. However it does seem that email sends immediately to the destination addres but the client gets hung up in the sending state.

I am uncertain of how to further diagnose the issue. Ping tests appear normal. The only other clue is that the log.nsf file shows several error messages similar to:

Unexpected TCP/IP error func:0006h error Notes: 1C5B, NTI: 1000h, STack:FFFF340h

Thanks in advance for your help. In the meantime, I am switching the user to work from local database.
