Setting objects to null may (seemingly) handle things at the C# end, but it doesn't do much at the Notes end (necessarily) in GC terms. You'd need to issue Marshall.ReleaseComObject() to irrevocably break the connection and allow Notes to do its GC thing. Oh, and do you really need to get the .Text of the Item, or would GetItemValue() do? That will reduce the number of objects you are accumulating.
