After 19 years, just entered 'Quit' for the last time on my final Domino server.
Too bad IBM did not respond to MS and continue the strong lead of the Notes mail client. Eclipse was a mistake, unstable, poor performance, and users noticed. That plus MS's integration with AD changed everything--better experience for the user despite the requirement for more Admin complexity and additional servers. You think MS is going to let you run all this on 2 servers?
Now everyone is being pushed to the cloud.
Advice: If you are a Messaging Admin, you better diversify and do it now! Zimbra, Office 365, Kerio, etc. are spreading out the options even more. This means less budget for the traditional top players. It is rumored that Exchange 2016 is mostly Office 365 repackaged for on-prem..meaning, the think-tanks already know, it is the end of on-prem mail servers. Not the end of Messaging Admin's so long as they don't remain locked to a product. As any Notes Admin that has transitioned to Exchange will tell you, mail is mail, short learning curve despite running it all on more servers.
Thanks to the Lotus community who has made this a fun and exciting time during the evolution of messaging. Sadly, the times, they are a changing.
