RE: Adding Java API
Rusyinni Rusanto 22.Nov.05 04:46 AM a Web browser
Applications Development 6.5.1 Windows 2000

For anyone who might be interested in using javax.comm API with lotus notes:

Place the 3 files at the following location:
1. comm.jar file in c:\Notes\jvm\lib\ext
2. javax.comm.properties file in c:\Notes\jvm\lib directory
3. win32com.dll file in c:\Notes or in c:\Notes\jvm\bin

Include the 3 files in your project.
Open up javax.comm.properties file in notepad or any text editor. It should look like this:

========================================
#
# Drivers loaded by the Java Communications API standard extension
# at initialization time
#
# Format:
# Each line must contain ONE driver definition only
# Each line must be of the form:
# driver=<ClassName>
# No spaces or tabs in the line.
# ClassName must implement the interface javax.comm.CommDriver
# example: driver=Win32Serial
#
#
# The hash(#) character indicates comment till end of line.
#
# Windows Serial Driver
Driver=com.sun.comm.Win32Driver

======================================

I've managed to get rid of the error message:
"Caught java.lang.NullPointerException: name can't be null while loading driver com.sun.comm.Win32Driver" by deleting the empty line after the "Driver=com.sun.comm.Win32Driver"

All the best for the rest ...
