After upgrading McAfee ProtectionPilot 1.5., EPo and Virus San to 8.5i we began to get authorization errors in certain users ND6.5.4 mail databases. I could repeat the problem by using the Domino Administrator client in full admin mode updating the design of any users mail application would throw the authorization error. After the error had been thrown ounce the client was toast displaying various errors. Restarting the client would often temporarily resolve the issue. I also found that removing McAfee 8.5i from the machine and restarting would permanently eliminate the authorization issue. Not wanting to go back to 8.0i I did a little exploring.
A little researched proved that only client installs including the designer client on both WinXP and Win2000 had the problem. I found that on these clients functions for McAfee scanning had been added to the Notes [Actions] menu.
Removing these lines from notes.ini and restarting the client fixed the problem;
