RE: Access a view field/element from web

Either COM, NotesSQL or DIIOP might be useful here, in that one could write code that queries the data on the Domino server without modifying any code that resides in Domino. It would certainly involve far more than an @DbLookup embedded in an HTML page, and it would probably be rather slow (since the documents would need to be opened to get the item not currently displayed in a view). It wouldn't be my choice for a beginner's first crack at Notes and Domino development.

The preferred alternative here, assuming that the organisation does not want to expose Domino (or at least that particular application) to the web in any way, would be to have the Domino developers export the data periodically to one or more static HTML files residing on the other web server with an agent. In that case, Jane's responsibility would entail designing the HTML page and providing the required markup. That can be read as a text file into the exporting agent, so design updates can be incorporated into the exported page as they occur. The agent would merely replace dummy text with the actual data from Notes. Just an idea.
