File content validation in File Upload control in web.

Hi,
I need to validate file content; specifically two column's values in a spreadsheet (.xls) file during the file will be uploaded via file upload control on a form.
If value on any row of those two columns does not match with requirements, file won't get uploaded into the form on web browser and notes client and should show error message about which rows does not match the requirement.
Can you please suggest how to do that?
