Automating file deletions on Domino

Does anyone know of a way to automate deleting files on a Domino server?
We are using mail journaling, and after I backup the journals to DVD I am having to manually go into the admin console on each of our 5 Domino servers (some in Win 2003 and some on iSeries) and delete the old journal files.
Is there some way to either issue a command on the console to do this or create a batch file to do it?
Ideally what I would like to have is a Windows batch file I could execute after backing up the journals that would connect to each server and delete the old journal files. I know on the Windows servers I could just do an operating system delete, but I've always heard you shouldn't delete Domino databases that way.
