I am back here after a long hiatus.
I would like to have the opinion of expert Domino Administrators here, if they too have faced the same problem.
Recently, yahoo has been rejecting (not in real terms, but just get timeout expired warnings and mails are not delivered immediately) bulk SMTP mails from Domino, non-yahoo mails fly past quickly. After reading thro' a number of forums I found that yahoo maintains a grey list - meaning all yahoo mails will be timed out the first time, and their theory is that spammers will not retry again, whereas legitimate customers will.
I've tried various combinations of retry interval, expiry etc, but that does not seem to solve the actual problem. Mails keep accumulating in the mail.box and are being retried by30 mins and this is a big load on the router (we send atleast 1000 yahoo emails per day). After struggling for the past few weeks, I have determined the yahoo throughput rate to be as 3-5 mails/minute .
What I have done till now,
-maintain rejection list, and reduce no. of legitimate emails sent
-delete away non-yahoo emails that are waiting in mail.box for more than a hour or so
-planning to send mail from 2 servers instead of 1 - hoping to increase the throughput, which I think it will.
-report the issue to yahoo tech team
So, how do I increase the yahoo mail throughput? Any ideas, is deeply appreciated.
